Virginia Tan is the founding partner of Teja Ventures, an early stage VC fund for emerging Asia, targeting early stage technology companies for the future of consumption. She also founded She Loves Tech, the world's largest startup competition for women and technology which is in more than 30 international locations in 2020. Virginia is the founder of Lean In China, a women's platform with over 100,000 members across more than 25 cities and 100 universities in China, which supports the goals and aspirations of Chinese women.Virginia's background is in law and finance, where she was an experienced finance lawyer for more than 8 years specialising on emerging markets, and has worked in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America for 2 magic circle firms, covering more than USD 30 billion of transactions. She moved to Beijing in 2013 to work on strategic investments related to the "One Belt One Road" initiative on behalf of Chinese state owned companies and financial institutions. In 2022, Virginia was selected by Asia Society as one of its Asia 21 Leaders. In 2020/2021, she made the Peak's inaugural Power List, was selected by Rockefeller Foundation as one of 8 Next Gen Leaders for Gender Equality and made the inaugural list for Singapore’s Top 100 women in tech. In 2019 she was named by Fast Company as one of China’s 100 most innovative people in business and one of Prestige’s 40 under 40 in Singapore. She has also been a Global Shaper at the World Economic Forum. Her work has been covered by leading press and TV media such as Bloomberg, Forbes, the Financial Times, BBC, CCTV, China Daily, Straits Times etc. She has spoken at leading institutions such as Alibaba, Baidu, Bloomberg, Dell, Disney, DSM, General Electric, P&G, HP, Medtronic, Facebook, Peking University, Tsinghua University and at international institutions such as UNICEF, UN Women, World Economic Forum, Asian Development Bank etc.
