Visnu Selvan

Hello! My name is Visnu Selvan, and I am currently an undergraduate student studying finance at the Fordham Gabelli School of Business. I am interested in pursuing a career where I can demonstrate both my people and communication skills alongside my passion for business, technology, and finance in order to aid the financially vulnerable of New York City. The origin of my passions lie particularly in my childhood. Growing up, I always admired my father from the shadows. He was a refugee from the Sri Lankan Civil War who found asylum in the heart of the free world within the land of opportunity-- New York City. He chased his American Dream as a hardworking business man who ran a small electronic retail store in Downtown, Manhattan-- working long hours in order to provide for his family. Although my father would unfortunately pass away when I was 5 years old, I would never forget about the sacrifices he made for his family and the struggles he endured throughout his life. This event, coupled with the financial struggles I endured growing up with a single mother, helped me discover who I wanted to serve in my life-- the financially vulnerable of New York City.
