Wade Miller

Hey there! I'm Wade, currently a freshman Sports Management student in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst, where I am a member of the McCormack Student Leaders Club, which has led me to opportunities such as working in gameday operations for an entirely student-run High School Basketball Tournament. I'm a Corporate Sales & Activations Intern for the Springfield Thunderbirds, working with corporate sponsors to create a gameday presentation geared towards their needs, and then activating that sponsorship package during the season. In this position I have had a large part in activating a "Stick to Reading" program, a 6-week reading program where students who complete a provided reading log get free tickets to a game. In the 2021-22 season, over 7,600 students have had the chance to participate in this program. Along with this program I have also worked to manage the official kids' club of the T-Birds, and ensure we meet the terms of the contracts of over 100 corporate sponsors. For the past few years, I have also worked in the Admissions/Front Gate Department at Six Flags New England, working my way from Team Member to Team Lead to Seasonal Supervisor in a matter of months. In this position, I supervise a department of team members and team leads to make sure the day-to-day operations of the front gate run smoothly. I also spend time developing team members, to turn them into the next generation of leadership for the department, and create a safe and healthy working environment. A large portion of my day-to-day duties also include working with guests to assist with any issues/concerns and give them the best possible visit to the park. I'm driven, dedicated, enthusiastic, and looking to pursue internships, and later on a career in Collegiate Athletics at the Division 1 level. My interests within College Athletics include event management, gameday operations, and fan experience.
