In 1994, I took my first job developing software and circuits that control test jigs for production testing of automative parts (ECUs, front panel PCBs). My first dip into the video industry was developing a time shift broadcast control system when Tektronix launched its first video disk recorder in 1995. I later took time out to do a PhD thesis on software design and development techniques. This gave me a chance to work with a company that develops realtime tools in SDL and UML. The skill set also came in useful when working on an XML schema validation tool comparable to Microsoft and IBM's reference validators. I returned to the video industry in 2006 where I develop middleware code for digital media delivery (DVB, OTT, etc.).
