I qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School. Following registration I completed my MD thesis through the University of London before moving to Edinburgh. I undertook my post-graduate surgical training in South East Scotland and was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. My sub-speciality interest is Oesophago-gastric and Laparoscopic surgery. I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in 2002, where I have continued my academic and clinical interests. I was formerly a Council Member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons GB and I was the Divisional Medical Director for Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I am currently on the Education Committee for the British Hernia Society and a member of SWIFTTS Global health organisation.
