Walter de Donato

I received the M.S. Degree in computer engineering and the Ph.D. In computer engineering and systems from the University of Napoli Federico II, Italy. During my PhD I visited the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where I founded the BISmark project under the supervision of Prof. Nick Feamster. From July 2012 to September 2016 worked as Research and Development Manager at Seven One Solution, coordinating the activities of research projects in which the company was involved. In July 2013 I co-founded NM2 Srl, a spin-off of the University of Napoli Federico II focused on the development of Network Monitoring and Measurement products and services, where I hold the CTO position. I co-authored over 20 international journal and conference publications as well as a patent. My research interests include methodologies, techniques, and distributed architectures for measuring, analyzing, classifying, and monitoring network traffic, with a specific focus on performance and security. As former member of IEEE and ACM, I've been reviewer for many IEEE and ACM conferences as well as for several Elsevier, ACM and IEEE journals. I received several awards for my research activities: Technologybiz Endorsement Award 2011; IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize 2012, Best Poster award at SIGCOMM 2012, ETIC AICA-Rotary award 2012.
