After spending the first 15 years out of college trying out different jobs in the fisheries-related fields, I found my calling in aquariums. At first it was doing the aquarist work at The New England Aquarium. And then I began my own business, where I discovered a need in the New England area (at first, then later nationally) to show clients what was possible in the realm of saltwater aquariums. In the beginning it was all about just making a great product and happy customers and enjoying our work. And as the years went by the focus grew into making a great business too. The vision for Gibbons Aquaria is two-fold: 1) To create a culture where employees feel so grateful, and fulfilled, and needed, and respected, and happy that they would never even dream of leaving the company. And if they were ever to leave, they would speak highly of the company to others. This kind of employee culture will infect our customers to the extent that they too would never even dream of leaving, and if they did, they would speak highly of Gibbons Aquaria, Inc. 2) To create a business that is systems or recipe driven, that creates consistent results for our customers, profits for the owners and employees; where every aspect, process, and procedure of the company is captured in recipe form to empower employees. The result is a business that empowers its employees and owner to make a better life for themselves and others.
