Watchara (Wat) is a hybrid, a Senior Art Director meets a Designer. He has created great ideas and beautiful work in agencies for 18 years. If you are wondering about his interesting name, he’s originally from Thailand, but he’s now also a New Zealander. Watchara entered adland 2 decades ago at Leo Burnett, Bangkok, where his unswerving dedication to craft and to developing strategic ideas swiftly started receiving recognition at advertising festivals around the world. Just over 3 years later he was lured to a Senior Art Director role at Ogilvy, where he further developed his art direction and design aesthetics before deciding to broaden his skills with photography classes at International Center of Photography in New York. Watchara then returned home and to Ogilvy, this time as a Creative Group Head. In 2011, he was ranked ‘Asia’s 17th Hottest Creative’ and ‘Thailand’s 4th Hottest Creative’ by Campaign Brief Asia Magazine. In 2013, he said goodbye to the land of smiles and moved to Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand, where his refined eye created consistently high-performing 360° campaigns for local and global clients. After 2 years at Saatchi, he moved to TBWA, where he applied that same visual rigour across all their clients.
