Currently residing in New Jersey after decades of performing in Europe and the U.S., Wayne Allen Geis teaches students in classes and private sessions, providing life advice and career guidance in addition to technical training. Many of Wayne Allen Geis’ former students are now working professionally in theater. Wayne Allen Geis got his start in his hometown of New York City, playing the role of Rodolfo in Arthur Miller’s award-winning play A View from the Bridge when he was still a teenager. Quickly gaining recognition as a singer and actor, Wayne Allen Geis played high-profile parts in plays including Kicking the Castle Down and operas such as Madama Butterfly and La Traviata. With the help of famous Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, Wayne Allen Geis auditioned for several of the major opera houses in Europe and established himself as a leading lyric tenor. Wayne Allen Geis first performed in Europe as Anachoret in Carl Orff’s De Temporum Fine Comoedia at the Salzberg Festival in 1973. Using the stage name Erik Geisen, Wayne Allen Geis performed in Europe until 1987, appearing in operas in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Upon his return to the United States, Wayne Allen Geis continued to act in plays and operas while teaching students in New York, Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland. In addition to his singing and acting career, Wayne Allen Geis is an accomplished director and recording artist. Wayne Allen Geis has directed many musicals and operas, including Showboat, Oklahoma!, and A Night in Venice. Wayne Allen Geis has also served as the Artistic Director for the Starlit Water Music Festival in Washington. Recordings featuring Wayne Allen Geis include Bayer Records’ recording of The Student Prince and Concert Hall’s recording of Cosi Fan Tutte.
