About
We’ll Give You Answers to Questions You Ask Every Day About Food + Drink! COOKING What’s for dinner? We’ll give you ideas. We’ll give you answers. We all ask that question maybe 365 times a year. And you might get some ideas and examples and strategies —not recipes— here! After all, you can’t just eat lamb chops and Cheetos dinner every night. For example, Mondays are a perfect day to think about your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the week, the month, or for sometime in the future. I picked Mondays because my wife, Sara, and I often go to a farmer’s market on both Saturdays and Sundays. We come home with interesting foods or flowers to create something for the next week. We often order dinners delivered to our home on weekends which can provide leftover lunches for a couple days. We also like pizza on Friday night. It’s a regular. What that also means is we don’t have to give much thought to that meal! We also ask what’s for lunch 365 times a year? What’s for breakfast 365 times a year? All together, we’re forced to think about what we’re going to eat more than 1,000 times in just one calendar year. I like the idea of streamlining or formatting. Doing so saves time and effort. We’ll dive into this 1,000-time-a-year world of ideas in search of treasures for you. DINING OUT Where should we eat out tonight? We’ll explore the world of dining out, from the simple to the sublime, to bring you its treasures. AT FARMER’S MARKETS Should we buy scallops/lamb/Iberico pork/heirloom tomatoes/baby Brussels sprouts at the farmer’s market today? These delightful shopping excursions here and everywhere sprout up on almost every visit to these culinary and horticultural mecca. Scallops from fish mongers. Honey Nut squash from farmers. Fresh-butchered lamb from animal husbandry zealots. French cucumbers. Foods prepared by smiling nuns. Miniature Brussels sprouts. Miniature cauliflower. Miniature acorn squash. Cut flowers. Wreaths. Potted plants. Cane sugar stalks. Lively musicians. Miniature machines blowing bubbles for toddlers to catch. We’ll go to many of farmer’s markets in search their treasures. Drink BEER, WINE, BRANDY, SPIRITS We’ll go to great lengths to discover everyday wines, brandys, and spirits. Once in a while we’ll introduce you to spectacularly fine beverages of all flavors.
