Medicinal Chemistry • Significant contribution to the drug discovery programs for many types of targets (including enzymes, GPCRs, transporters) that led to several preclinical candidates in the areas of neuroscience, inflammation, metabolic diseases and oncology. • Extensive experience at all stages of drug discovery including: (a) HTS screening and hit identification; (b) Lead optimization of potency and physical properties utilizing structure-based design or in the absence of structural information; (c) Design and synthesis of radiolabelled leads and tracers and unstable key metabolites for target occupancy, ex vivo binding and PKDM studies; (d) Achieving high quality preclinical candidates and providing chemistry support for clinical studies. This team effort led to two high quality preclinical candidates one of which has been advanced to Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of schizophrenia. Organic Synthesis • Excelled in the synthesis of highly complex natural and non-natural products, heterocyclic chemistry and multicomponent reactions. Coauthor on 15 US patents and 27 papers (Key author in Angew. Chem., JACS, Org. Lett., JOC, BMCL papers). Many oral presentations on ACS meetings including one in "First Time Disclosure of Clinical Candidates".
