Will Austin

I am a student at the University of Tennesee, Knoxville. I am currently in the undergraduate Biomedical Engineering program with a business minor in the Cook Grand Challenge Honors Program for engineering majors, as well as the school-wide 1794 scholars program. I am applying to join a program at UTK that will allow me to get a Masters in Biomedical Engineering with an additional year of studying and hoping to one day receive an MBA. I am open to new experiences, adaptable, and willing to learn. Fortunately, I have been able to live and travel in many countries that help me bring people together. It has helped me adapt because I was frequently moving into new homes and environments and meeting people from all over the world. Through these experiences, I have learned a lot about different cultures. In particular, I had the opportunity to learn Spanish and have applied it through a summer immersion program in San Sebastian, Spain. While my work experience has been limited, I have had the pleasure of joining McDermott International in Dubai, UAE, to perform an internship that allowed me to gain knowledge about engineering in the real world. I have gained skills from fabrication and engineering, to learning more about the financial and business side of a multinational company and their operations. I am also grateful for the leadership opportunities I have had as the president of the Student-Athlete Leadership Team in high school, as well as being a Captain on many of my sports teams.
