I am a Molecular Biologist by training who has specialized in research in Huntington's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders both in The Netherlands and abroad. In my lab we study the underlying disease mechanisms that cause these diseases and try and design therapeutic strategies. The ultimate goal is to improve quality of live for patients and their families who suffer from these devastating diseases. I have gained extensive experience in designing and performing scientific experiments ranging from immunohistochemical staining of human brain sections to protein, RNA, and DNA analyses. I have proven my leadership qualities managing an expanding research group and acquiring external research funding. Furthermore, my experience as a professional scientific editor has given me excellent scientific writing skills.
