About

As a seasoned software developer and architect, I care a lot about software quality, testability, maintainability, and extensibility. Finding a great balance between making/keeping the user, customer, and developer happy is something I love about this craft. I'm currently specialized in .NET, Angular and Blazor development but if you're interested in my history, please keep on reading. My career started as a hardware, firmware, and software developer in a small company in my hometown. During this great opportunity, I’ve learned to create things from scratch and solve all kinds of difficult challenges. From creating printed circuit boards, assembling, writing firmware to developing Windows software, it was all part of the job. Keeping your knowledge up-to-date in so many different fields is hard. Therefore, after a small decade, I’ve decided to specialize in the software field. At dZine/Barco, I’ve got the opportunity to be part of the “Windows team” where I developed Windows drivers (battery driver, touchscreen driver, GSM) and a C# SDK for the custom-built mobile device. I’ve also assisted with the “Linux team” to set up remote debugging and fix bugs in the open-source Qt framework and GStreamer. After some years at Barco, I could join a new division where we created a web application from scratch using technologies like NodeJS and MongoDB. Unfortunately, the new division and its products got abandoned but my love for web development was sparked. Enough to take the opportunity to join CogniStreamer. At CogniStreamer, I got the chance to help build their new web application as technical lead in a team of ~6 local and ~5 remote developers from India and Sri Lanka. After 2 years, the MVP was ready and CogniStreamer joined EY. After the biggest part of the software architecture was finished, I've decided to start another adventure. I started at Cronos aan de Leie as a .NET software consultant where we help customers design and build web applications using ASP.NET Core, Angular and Blazor. Outside of my day job, I love working on open-source and helping the open-source community for which I’ve received the Microsoft MVP award for the third time in a row.
