Group webpage: www.yijin-lab.org Having a chemistry background then moving into biochemistry later on, I am interested in enzyme mechanisms of catalysis, using stable substrate and transition state analogues as the approach. I use an interdisciplinary approach to study protein structure and function using X-ray crystallography, NMR, synthesis, protein engineering, coupled with other biophysical and biochemical methods. My research focus and expertise are in phosphoryl transfer enzymes and carbohydrate processing enzymes, some of which are the proteins involved in signalling pathways in human and bacteria.
