Currently: Senior Fisheries Protection Officer for the British Indian Ocean Territory. Main objectives are: - Monitor, board and inspect fishing vessels in transit through the BIOT MPA - Organise Patrols around BIOT MPA and police area against illegal fishing - Conduct foot patrols on the islands to look for signs of illegal camps and fishing activities - Issue warnings or detain any vessels found in breach of the Fisheries Ordinance 07 or the Fishing Regulations - Conduct environmental monitoring & sampling as directed - Customs Officer for visiting yachts Previously: Operating as a fisheries observer in the Southern Ocean/Antarctica. Predominantly working with the target species of krill. Previously: Part of a dynamic team of multi disciplined hydrographic, oceanographic and environmental surveyors, at Titan Environmental Surveys Ltd. Key responsibilities involve assisting all seniors with job preparation including formal bids, HSE documentation, up dates to procedures, policies and safe systems of work and RAMS/ERP documents. In the field: Skippering vessels, party chief, onsite data processor, vessel maintenance, data QC and client liaison. Originally: Working under both Gardline Geosurvey Ltd and GardlineCGG. Working offshore conducting high resolution geophysical surveys involving: site surveys, baseline surveys, pipeline and cable routes, wind-farms, 2D/3D seismic exploration, geochemical, water column data processing, geotechnical work including CPTs/vibrocore/pistoncore and oceanographic and environmental grab sampling.
