Yu Bin Tan, MD

I am a hardworking and self-driven individual that can work well in teams to achieve a common goal. I try to value-add to all my commitments and aim to make a difference to society whenever possible. Having been awarded the prestigious Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship (Medicine) by the Singapore government, I graduated from Duke-NUS Medical School in 2018 with the Singhealth Top Student Gold Medal, Academy of Medicine, Singapore Medal for Outstanding Leadership and NUSS Medal for Outstanding Achievement. I started my Internal Medicine residency training at Singhealth in 2018 and completed it in 2021 obtaining my Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine from the National University of Singapore and also becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). I also completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) which granted me medical licensure in the United States. Throughout my training, I strived for clinical and research excellence and was awarded the Singhealth RISE Award (Top 5% Outstanding Resident). My mentoring commitments were also recognised with the Med ACP Education Award and the Duke-NUS Alumni Appreciation Award For Mentoring Juniors. I am currently undergoing my specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Singhealth as a senior resident. Prior to medical school, I obtained my B.Eng (1st Class Honours) in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Nanyang Technological University where I was awarded the title of NTU President Research Scholar and was also on the Dean’s List. I have been an active volunteer since 2011 and currently spend my free time volunteering as a physician at Heathserve as well as various other hobbies.
