Yuri Graves, CEM, NVEM

I am currently serving as the Emergency Management Specialist at the DOE/NNSA Nevada Field Office. I previously served as the Emergency Manager for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and Nevada State College (2018-2020). I served as the Emergency Manager for the City of Henderson in Nevada from 2013-2018.Prior to that I served 20 years in the US Coast Guard and retired as a Commander (O-5) in 2013. While serving, I led a variety of missions including search and rescue, port security, maritime safety, illegal migrant/drug interdiction, and environmental protection. I was stationed in California, Louisiana, Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, Guam and Japan. During my tenure in the US Coast Guard International Port Security program and as liaison to the Customs and Border Protection Container Security Initiative, I assessed over 200 port facilities in over 40 countries.I have earned two Master's Degrees, the first in Environmental Policy and Management, and the second in Geology. I have also earned my certification as an IAEM Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Nevada Certified Emergency Manager (NVEM), ICS Instructor, and as a Type III Incident Commander. I am also a graduate of Harvard University's National Preparedness Leadership Initiative (NPLI) Executive Education Program.
