Zach Rabinovich

I started my first job working at a Semiconductor foundry following my completion of a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. I found the design of integrated circuits through CAD software to be unengaging. I did however get a chance to use an unconventional operating system at the time; a Linux distro. I was exposed to the terminal and wrote some simple scripts to accomplish tasks. I found the act of scripting and interacting with the command line to be more interesting. It was then I started delving more into the world of Software Development. I began learning about Ruby and Ruby on Rails from a Michael Hartl tutorial and I was instantly hooked. It was thrilling to tackle various problems via code and watch the results on my screen. I knew then I wanted to be a Software Engineer. As a Software Engineer I constantly strive to improve on my knowledge of existing skillsets as well as learn about new technologies and frameworks. I understand the importance of mentorship therefore any opportunity I have to lead a more novice engineer at the workplace I do so. I believe a strong work ethic and camaraderie are essential to a productive team.
