Zechariah 🔨🖌️🪚🪛 Brewer

I always liked teaching, but never thought of being a teacher. Now, I know I'll only be satisfied by teaching others, regardless of my actual career field or job title. Becoming a teacher was a long journey with several hurdles to climb, including changing majors, enlisting, changing colleges, teaching uncertified for a year, getting my Master's degree in English, and finally getting a certified position. I've been at Ellender Memorial High School since 2012 and have taught a myriad of classes in both English and career subjects, most significant being the NCCER Core certification, which also allows me to teach Industrial Arts. At the same time, I've been progressing in my military career, going from an Electrical Power Production Craftsman to an Occupational Safety NCO. This played perfectly into my teaching career by qualifying me for the NCCER instructor position. Today, I'm looking to transition into the Occupational Safety world so I can provide well for my family. I'd like to take my experience with inspecting, research, writing, and educating others so I can turn it into lives defended, property protected, reputations upheld, and productivity increased. No matter what direction God leads me in, I know I'll always be teaching somebody something. In addition to teaching and the military, I've worked at summer camps, in retail, fast food, construction, as a personal care attendant, at an office job, and overseeing student workers at a university gym. The most satisfying parts of any one of these jobs has been when I had the opportunity to teach or train someone. My number one goal in the classroom is to challenge the students' perspectives. Even if they ultimately remained unchanged, I have succeeded when I have offered them the opportunity to change by challenging the mindset they started off with. My number one goal will be what I carry with me wherever my classroom may be and whatever form it may take.
