About
I am a final year psychology student at the National University of Singapore. Contrary to popular belief, we as psychologists, do not read minds, but we do have a few tricks that can tweak your behaviour! The cognition and behavioural aspect of psychology deeply attracts me, as it offers methods to change one's behaviour. I often try to "self-help" by applying theories learnt to manipulate myself to eat healthier, but I guess my love for good food made it a lost cause. I have a weird habit of trying to explain everything with psychology theories. Perhaps it is this ritual that made me attracted to the field of public health. I found a place in public health to practice psychology in a non-clinical setting. My summer internship with the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health made me realised public health is my calling. I am a strong advocate of student life experience and had spent many summer breaks volunteering for freshmen orientation camps. I was the Project Director for the freshmen orientation camp in 2017, and the role necessitate that I lead the various departments, liaise with stakeholders and respond promptly to emergencies. Outside of student life, I am also a varsity team player for the tchoukball team and represented the school in competitions such as the Singapore University Games. Having to commit three nights a week for four years to trainings taught me discipline. During my free time, I binge on cooking shows and attempt to replicate their recipes for self-gratification. I am actively looking for opportunities to work in the public health sector to serve the community. Specialities: Experimental psychology, Experimental design, Epidemiology, Public health, Behavioural health, Cognition, Data analysis, ISO, OHSAS, SPSS, E-prime, Microsoft Office Suite.
