Zichuan Li, PhD, PE, PTOE

I consider myself as a full stack traffic modeller and software developer. I am a certified Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) with more than ten years of experience in traffic operation and planning. My expertise related to transportation includes traffic flow model developing, traffic simulation, traffic planning and network modelling, arterial signal timing optimization, traffic monitoring and management system development, and statistical analysis. I have been working with VISSIM, Synchro, Transyt-7F, TSIS/CORSIM, TransCAD, HCS, and TransModeler since 2003. I have a comprehensive background of both traffic operation and transportation planning. I finished my PhD dissertation in 2011, entitled "An Integrated Control Model for Freeways and Arterials”. This dissertation has proposed a traffic flow model to take account of the complex traffic interactions between congested freeway and arterial movements. It then proposed an integrated control model to improve the system performance by balancing the delay between freeways and arterials. This intensive study has provided me a solid knowledge of traffic operations. My master thesis is about traffic planning, which has developed a new algorithm for the traffic assignment problem and proposed a reliability model for transportation network. This study has helped me understand transportation planning. I also have more than ten years of experience of C/C++/C# programming. One of my most enjoyable contributions is to develop various computer tools to assist my colleagues finish their tasks in a more enjoyable, more effective and efficient way. I have developed several tools to improve the quality and efficiency of daily work.
