I entered my practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2002. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in providing patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and also have been able to exercise my skill in program development in a variety of practice settings. I developed the nurse practitioner role for the practice of Pulmonary and Critical Care in Ann Arbor Michigan. I later partnered with the Colorado Visiting Nurses Association to open the Craig Colorado Community Health Center, and served as its sole provider for its first 12 months of operations. I then joined the Valley View Hospitalist Group during its infancy in 2009 and remain an active member of that team to date. Although I have enjoyed a variety of roles, my focus has always been on advocating for my patients, helping them to obtain their highest level of health, and facilitating an improved quality of life. I value the patients/families that I have built relationships with and the opportunities to help them find avenues for healing. I decided to fully pursue the philosophy of elevation of health and expanded healing by exploring the field of palliative care. I will complete the University of Colorado’s Community Palliative Care Specialist Master’s degree program in August of 2019. As of late, I have been applying my skills to developing the Valley View Hospital (VVH) Palliative Care Program.
