R&D or Research and Development is such a pretentious way of describing playing with an idea where you have no clue of the outcome. Today was such a colorful day of work filled with so many possibilities, the most important not being the ideas but where we all meet in the work and how important our ideas make the work exist and resonate on different levels. I felt all my teachers and colleagues in the room with me today and all the men and women I grew up studying, as I tried to be not only disobedient in creating as I did organizing performance dates and rehearsal schedules, realizing that it's two cultures of work meeting each other on how we approach creating but how we structure and organize the creative approach... In two different languages. Working outside my own cultural and linguistic context is wonderfully rewarding! Nothing can be taken for granted, and yet there is a greater opportunity for a clarity.... A great, precious gift.
