I lead a team of specialists that bring together deep engineering, technical and science expertise within the Arup Advanced Digital Engineering Group. The team explores and deploys technologies in the built environment, ranging from materials science, audio visual, telecommunications, environmental physics, wind engineering, seismic engineering, heritage structures, renewable energy, advanced structural and mechanical analysis to solve challenging problems. As a technical structural specialist, I have enjoyed developing approaches to the use of new materials, software for non-linear concrete analysis, strain induced loading and cracking. I have also actively collaborated in industry led sustainability research looking at CO2 emission reduction from the steel and concrete industry, reuse and design for deconstruction.
