Presently serve as a Primary Counsellor within the Assisted Living Program, Outreach program, and Transitional Services Program at Community Brain Injury Services assisting to facilitate independent living and achievement of life roles and goals. Initiatives involve planning, implementing, and evaluating strategies to assist with the development of client’s personal and community living skills, in conjunction with a team. Personal and community living skills include areas such as hygiene and safety, assistance with taking medications, care of environment, meal planning and preparation, planning and problem solving, money management, community safety and orientation, leisure and recreation, social skills, and brain injury education. Briefly employed on a contract basis at Ongwanada as a treatment counselor in the Sunnyside treatment facility providing support for clients with dual diagnoses involving mental health challenges, behavioural challenges, and developmental disabilities. Highlights of Skills and Qualifications: • Effective communicator, creative approach to problem solving; with good interpersonal skills • Strong Advocacy Skills • Excellent writing skills, organizational skills, and professionalism • Experience writing ABA and CBT programs • Proficiency with Microsoft word, Excel, and Power-point • Experience working with individuals with an acquired brain injury • Experience working with young adults and the aged who have developmental disabilities or mental health issues.
